What is an Engagement Shoot and why should I have one?

An Engagement shoot, also known as a pre-wedding shoot or simply as an E-shoot, is basically a photo-shoot of you and your husband-or-wife-to-be which takes place before the wedding.

They're a relatively new concept in wedding photography circles but have taken off on a massive scale - there's not a wedding photographer I know who doesn't do Engagement shoots.

Usually, we do an Engagement shoot about 2-3 weeks before your big-day, but sometimes they've taken place a year before your wedding day.

They're an excellent idea for a few reasons:

  • They allow you to have some cracking photos taken in a relaxed and natural setting.
  • They let you see the way we work, how we pose you, our approach to photography, how well we will get on and how much fun it can be having your picture taken!
  • It will allow us to see how you behave in front of the camera - are you a natural poser or not!
  • As the Engagement shoot takes place before the wedding, the photos can be used for thank-you cards, a mini-album, a guest-book, gifts and much, much more.
As an example of the sort of photos we will take on your Engagement shoot, have a look at these:

Been a bit busy - as usual - but thought I'd post the first few photos to the blog from a recent 'whirl-wind tour' of the UK...
